“No Kid Sleeps on the Floor in our Town”
Sleep in Heavenly Peace is an organization that is helping children in need to sleep better. They believe that a bed is a basic need for the proper physical, emotional, and mental support that a child needs. This org is a group of volunteers dedicated to building, assembling, and delivering topnotch bunk beds to children and families in need. This growing organization has grown and is in multiple states and has many chapters. You can check their website for a chapter near you.
How you can get involved:
- Volunteer- SHP hosts Build Days that are meant for communities to come together to serve, this is where everyone comes together to build the beds. This is a fun idea to do with an organization or co-workers or your family as long as everyone is at least 12 years of age. I have done this twice where you go in to the homes in a group to the actual houses and build the bed either single of bunk beds for the kids in need. SHP is always looking for hands to help as well as monetary donations to help sponsor these builds.
- Donate-SHP is 100% volunteer-driven and donation-driven. Any donations go toward purchasing materials for bed, bed assembly/delivery, and building and improving the organization. Other ways to donate are by purchasing SHP gear on their website, donating new twin-sized sheet sets and comforters, pillows, wood and other construction material for Build Days and tools.
