Forced Family Fun
When you have a family that has preschoolers up to high schoolers the list of family time activities can vary. Really if you have more than one kid even if they are the same age someone will make the activity seem forced due to their behavior or their not agreeing with what is fun for them at that moment. Add a few kids with half of them teens you can see how someone will either feel like they are being forced to be hanging out with their family because they are too cool or they just simply think anything the parents thought up is just dumb anyway. Well I could cater to all four of my kids and do nothing at all or I have just made a joke about it being “Forced Family Fun.” Even us as parents struggle sometimes with the hardships of organizing and executing family time and inevitably someone might ruin it in some way but we have to be diligent to find some family time before everyone is off on their own. Of course, we try to find things that most would enjoy and we have just made some things rituals or annual events so no matter what is going on we get together for this time at some sort of time.
A few examples of things that we do that we know are hits with everyone are game centers such as Dave and Buster’s or the The Dip Ice Cream place!
During the holidays I make sure we find a night in our busy schedule every year to go to Festival of Lights at the Zoo, Winterfest at Kings Island, and drive thru Christmas lights (Coney Island has been our favorite!). We also must go to pick out our own pumpkins at a Pumpkin Patch!
We do like going bowling, putt putt golf, and batting cages even though like anything that has an element of competition there is some sort of fighting or sore losership displayed so we don’t do these as often as we would like to but 3 boys within 3 years apart make this difficult!
Check out my blogs on some of the events I have mentioned (you can also see some of these blogs in my Supporting Local Business section!).
